Ever since I worked on a reprint of American Surfaces at Phaidon, I have been in love with the works of Stephen Shore.  His use of colour and way of documenting everyday life has made him a pioneer in colour photography. Now, if somone would please buy me this book.

Though you probably can't tell, this photo was taken during my trip to Turkey last year. I really regret not having a good SLR with me at the time but it probably would have become lost or stolen like most things did. It was the perfect destination to end a year abroad and I miss these peaceful moments.

Another photo from our Melbourne walk on Saturday.

This evening I rushed to bake a gluten-free cake for a work charity morning tea tomorrow. I didn't have the time or patience to make it from scratch so I bought a packet mix from Woolworths. First mistake. The second was under-cooking it and the third was to try and save it by cutting the middle out. I'm usually great at baking and enjoy it but today just wasn't my day. This weekend I will make one from scratch and it will be fantastic.

On Sunday two of my longest serving friends and I headed down to Shadowfax Winery in Werribee South to grab some lunch, wine and have a long overdue catch-up. To my surprise the weather was nice and sunny albeit a little cold. What was even more surprising is that they had gluten-free pizza bases - hooray! It has been a hard transition into the gluten-free world since I was diagnosed late last year but it does appear that the rest of the world is catching up. More photos to follow.

On Saturday a few friends and myself decided to get together to wander the streets and take a few photos. The initial plan was to meet in Yarraville but the weather was extremely bleak so we met in the city near Federation Square instead. We still managed to get a few photos (above) and I used a mixture of digital and film which I will get processed over the next week. It was nice to get out and use the weekend proactively and see more of Melbourne which is why we are hoping to make this a regular thing and get more people involved. More on that in the weeks to come.

Mornings in the suburbs aren't that bad; at least you can view the sunrise without the interference of large buildings and dirty pollution.

Now that I have moved back to Suburbia I thought it would be a good idea to keep a blog. This way I can curb my boredom and also share my photography, thought and inspiration.
